Creator Statement
Zero Point began with the idea of the Zero-Point Energy theorem, which fascinated me, and the question of, “what would happen if someone really discovered a way to have limitless clean energy?” It also stemmed from true accounts of scientists being murdered in this country.
I’ve always been drawn to high-stakes stories at the intersection of science, politics, and business, with deeply human-stakes and complicated characters. I also wanted to create a story with a strong, smart female protagonist. Jenny King, our brilliant writer, and the team at ReelArc Productions truly made my vision a reality.
At the center of the series is a woman who walked away from science after discovering an equation she believed was too dangerous to pursue. When physicists connected to that work begin turning up dead, she is forced back into the world she rejected. What begins as a murder investigation becomes a race to stop something that could fundamentally alter reality itself.
The vertical format was particularly exciting to us because it demands immediacy. Every episode needs to pull you forward, reveal something unexpected, and leave you needing the next piece of the puzzle. Zero Point was conceived to embrace that rhythm—short, cinematic bursts of suspense that build into a larger story.
I'm thrilled to share Zero Point with audiences at ALZA Festival, and especially excited to do so alongside an extraordinary cast - Ben Davis (most recently Hades in Broadway's Hadestown, Ragtime), Clifton Samuels (Elf, Follies and FX’s Feud), Kim Hoffman, and Mike Holt. Together, we brought these characters to life with the hope that audiences will be entertained, intrigued—and perhaps question the hidden motives and narratives behind what we see in the papers.
