Creator Statement
Opportunists is a satirical exploration of my own ambitions for fame, the fickleness of the internet, and the absurdity of cancel culture. Through Maddie and Sofia, I poke fun at the ridiculous lengths we go to be seen and stay relevant. In a world where attention is currency, we all become dancing monkeys to some degree. The difference is that Maddie and Sofia have absolutely no shame about it. Opportunists is my attempt to laugh at that impulse rather than pretend I'm above it.

Astrid Mendoza is an actor, writer, and producer based in New York. Her work spans theater, film, TV, and new media, exploring new ways of telling stories for contemporary audiences.
