Directed by Megan Broussard

A single, 35-year-old New Yorker tries to navigate life while fielding nonstop calls from her lovably toxic Louisiana mother, whose reports of strangers' deaths, HOA wars, and unsolicited advice give her plenty to unpack in therapy.

Creator Statement

The Mom Calls was inspired by the affection and absurdity of mother-daughter relationships. Growing up in Louisiana and moving to New York, I became fascinated by how a phone call can collapse the distance between where you’re from and who you’re trying to be. I wanted to capture that in a way that shows how a relationship can be deeply loving but also maddening and hilarious all at once. It’s a strange realization that sometimes the person who drives you the craziest is also the person whose call you’ll always answer.
