Keeping It New York: Stories of Preservation, Place and the People Who Care

Keeping It New York: Stories of Preservation, Place and the People Who Care

New York’s story lives in the people, places and objects that refuse to disappear.

In NYC Rolodex Recs, a mysterious rolodex discovered at an estate sale becomes a map of the city, leading one card at a time to New York’s last great specialty shops and the people keeping them alive. In Painting It Forward, Patrick restores the city’s forgotten fire call boxes by hand—preserving their history while returning color and care to the streets around them.

Together, these two vertical series celebrate the New Yorkers who protect the city’s character through curiosity, craftsmanship and small acts of devotion. They remind us that keeping New York alive doesn’t always require a grand gesture—sometimes it begins with following an old address or applying a fresh coat of paint.
